Entertainer Etta May brings her charm and sass to Comedy Off Broadway next week for the first of several comedy performances.

May has been described as ‘Minnie Pearl with a migraine’. She hails from Bald Knob, Arkansas and was the youngest child with nine older brothers.

The winner of the Stand Up Comic of the Year from the American Comedy Awards, May is a regular guest on the syndicated Bob & Tom radio show. She also appears on the comedy channels of XM and Sirius Radio.

Comedy Off Broadway is located at 161 Lexington Green Circle, Lexington, and May’s October 2 performance is part of a series extending to October 12. For more information, call (859) 271-5653. Tickets are $12 – $22.

In Lawrenceburg, meanwhile, it’s time for the annual Anderson County Burgoo Festival complete with food, crafts, and lots of fun. The festival begins at 10:00 am on Friday, September 27, and continues through the weekend, ending at 5:00 pm on Sunday, September 29.

Located on Highway 27 just south of Frankfort, this festival is located in the heart of Kentucky and is just over 30 minutes from Lexington.

There will also be plenty of Burgoo stew available. Burgoo is a spicy dish made of chicken, pork, beef chuck, carrots, celery, corn, onions, and lima beans.

Festival goers will enjoy live entertainment and vendors selling all types of wares. Poster printing and banner printing are two ways to announce festivals to out-of-town visitors and local community members.
