Kentucky tucks in this weekend

This weekend, Danville will be alive with the exciting sounds, sites, and aroma of the 2nd annual Kentucky BBQ Festival – a weekend event.

The tantalizing blue smoke will be rising from the grills as sumptuous portions of pulled pork, whole hog, and sizzling Texas beef brisket come from the BBQ. This promises to be an exciting and fun time for the whole family.

Appearing at this year’s event is Craig Kimmel from Firehouse BBQ, which airs on WKYT. This year features BBQ cooking, a wide variety of kids’ entertainment, nine live bands, demonstrations, and six champion pit masters serving up their tasty offerings.

This event is a fundraiser, with the proceeds going to benefit the Heart of Kentucky’s United Way. Like last time round, the funds raised this year will go towards construction of the Constitution Square in Downtown Danville. At last year’s premier event, more than 25,000 people attended and enjoyed a fantastic time. A schedule of events is available on the website for those wishing to take in demonstrations or experience specific bands. This is a rain or shine, family event, so please dress appropriately.

The organizers may have consulted a printing company to promote this mouthwatering taste experience to residents of the area and surrounding districts. The festival is happening both tomorrow, September 8, and on Sunday, between 11:00 am and 10:00 pm. To find out more information about the Kentucky BBQ, the event has its own website or, alternatively, barbecue-lovers can call Brad Simmons at 859-319-5000.
