Eagleville residents invited to take a step back in time

July 15, 2016 by

An event has been planned for Pennypacker Mills that will give residents of Eagleville and the surrounding communities a chance to find out more about what it was like to socialize during Edwardian times.

The historic property will be hosting a Victorian Tea in its Edwardian manor house. Those who take part will learn more about the social and cultural fabric of the time, including the etiquette that would have been considered appropriate. There will be tea and light refreshments provided.

The event will be facilitated by Janet Young, who is the Over the Teacup teahouse’s proprietor and is certified by the Protocol School in Washington as a Tea and Etiquette Consultant. She has been featured in many national magazines, as well as in newspapers and on television, and will provide a lesson what would have been considered proper manners for the time. Stationery printers can be called upon to produce invitations and other items for events such as this that have been designed to fit the time period being recreated.

The Victorian Tea will take place at Pennypacker Mills on September 25 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, and the price has been set at $40 each. Those who would like to join in the afternoon’s activities are asked to register ahead of time by calling 610-287-9349. They can also find a registration form on the Mongomery County website.
