Dunkin’ Donuts to ramp up its presence in Durham and Raleigh

In a recent announcement from Dunkin’ Donuts it was revealed that the chain has signed a multi-store agreement to develop seven new locations throughout the Durham and Raleigh market.

One of Krispy Kreme’s earliest stores was located in Winston-Salem and the company maintains its headquarters there to this day. However, despite its competitor having the home field advantage, Dunkin’ Donuts is nevertheless making this bold gambit for an increased market share.

The agreement Dunkin’ signed is with one of its current franchisees, Coastal Franchising Inc. The new donut shops will add to the company’s 39 Dunkin’ Donuts stores in the Carolinas. Within the Triangle, Coastal Franchising has four traditional Dunkin Donut locations and one hybrid Dunkin/Baskin Robbins restaurant.

In the announcement, Coastal Franchising CEO George Ross said:

“As we expand throughout Raleigh-Durham over the next several years, we hope to attract new customers, as well as longtime fans of the brand, and show them the premium products and quality service we have to offer.”

Presently, the Triangle already supports 90 Dunkin’ Donuts and has over 200 throughout North Carolina. The first of Coastal Franchising’s new Dunkin’ Donut restaurants is anticipated to open in 2018. However, where the banners announcing the openings will appear is unknown at this point as the locations have not been decided upon yet.
