Doral residents celebrate opening of Legacy Park

The opening of Legacy Park, an 18-acre green space in Doral, recently drew thousands of enthusiastic community members, as well as the mayor and members of the city council.

After a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of a plaque, visitors explored the sports complex, which is state-of-the-art and offers many amenities, among them an indoor gym comprising 35,000 square feet.

The day also offered music, games, sports demos, and free barbecue from Taste of Style. Angelina Green, a Doral resident who has appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent’, was one of the performers.

Once inside the gym, the mayor, as well as members of the city council, made a lap around the track. The run was to signal the kick-off of Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez’s wellness measure, known as ‘Step Up Your Health, Doral’. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise, and Bermudez wants to help Doral reach the goal of becoming the ‘City of a Billion Steps’.

The park is designed to be family friendly, and offer a spot where community members can gather to play sports, enjoy cultural events, and take part in fitness programs, all in an environment where they feel safe. Residents who attended the opening were encouraged to paste photos on social media.

Occasions like this can be even more fun if organizers provide illustrated brochures that show, as well as describe, the amenities of the venue.
