Time to spruce up a North Versailles area trail

April 30, 2017 by

The Allegheny Land Trust will once again be working on its Dead Man’s Hollow Trail, and it is seeking volunteers from North Versailles to lend their support to its efforts.

The organization will be working to clean up and extend the trial by cutting trees, planting new ones, installing native plants, planting seeds, and removing invasive plants. The volunteers will also be removing litter and other debris. The goal for this year is to extend the route by six to ten miles, and the work will go ahead rain or shine, unless thunderstorms have been forecast.

Those who would like to lend their support and hands to the project are asked to dress appropriately for the jobs they will be doing, and refreshments, cold water, and tools will be provided. The organizers have asked that people bring along their own refillable water bottle if they have one. A company that prints customized business forms will be able to provide the organizers of a day such as this with copies of liability waivers and other documents for the volunteers to sign.

This day of hands-on environmental action has been planned for May 16 in McKeesport, and the Allegheny Land Trust is hoping as many people as possible will participate. Anyone who is interested in helping the group meet its goal has been asked to visit its website for additional details.

Middletown’s Cruise Night seeks sponsors

April 30, 2017 by

The Middlesex Chamber of Commerce has issued an invitation to local businesses, individuals, and organizations to sponsor a well-known and well-loved Middletown event.

The Chamber is seeking sponsors for the 2017 Middletown Cruise Night on Main Street, which is expected to draw thousands of visitors and locals to the area. This will provide companies with an opportunity to both promote their brand and lend their support to a community-based activity.

Different levels of sponsorship are available, and each comes with its own set of benefits. These start off at ‘bronze’ for a contribution of $250, and go up to ‘diamond’ for one of $2,000. Each level includes an opportunity for the sponsor’s logo and brand to be seen by the public. A print company’s branding upgrade service can help businesses and organizations that wish to be a part of a festival such as this by ensuring their logos and other branding are both current and effective.

During the event, there will be hundreds of classic cars and other show vehicles parked along Main Street, and there will also be food and beverages to enjoy as well as music and other live entertainment. It will take place on June 14 from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and anyone who would like to register to act as a sponsor, or who simply wants additional information, is invited to visit the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce’s website.
