Burlington city Christmas tree recycled

The Burlington Christmas tree, a 45-foot blue spruce, has been recycled and will be used in the building of a Habitat for Humanity duplex in Winooski. Hinesburg’s Clifford Lumber was asked to cut the tree up and provide Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity with boards which will be used to trim the windows in the new house. In addition, the branches were ground up and the mulch will be used in local gardens or as fuel for the McNeil Generation Station.

The exhibit Frida Kahlo: Her Photos will be showing in the Terrace Gallery at Artisphere from February 23-March 25. This free event is the largest the art center has presented. There will be an opening reception on February 23 from 7-10 pm.

This is the only place the exhibit will be showing in the United States; Arlington was chosen because it is the sister city to Kahlo’s hometown of Coyaocan, Mexico. The exhibit Romare Beardon: Southern Recollections will be showing at the Tampa Museum of Art until May 6. This travelling exhibit presents 80 works of the well-known artist from private and public collections.
