Local families to take a ChalkWalk

April 17, 2017 by

The local Foster, Adoptive and Kinship Coalition Team will be hosting its second annual ChalkWalk in a couple of weeks.

This will be a stroll in the park to celebrate the families who have opened their homes to children either as foster parents or through adoption. It also has a goal of raising awareness that more foster families are needed here in Connecticut.

Families are invited to walk though Lake Kenosia Park. During the walk, kids can go on a scavenger hunt and win prizes, including six gift baskets and two new Android tablets. They can get their faces painted afterwards and join in activities and games.

The park playground will welcome the little ones. Light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the walk and participants will receive giveaway bags containing promotional products from local businesses. After the walk, families are invited to leave encouraging comments for children who are presently in foster care on the ChalkWalk wall.

Admission will be $10 per family, and all proceeds will go to the Annie C. Alumni Scholarship Fund, which helps young adults who have outgrown the foster care system. It provides them with bus fares, clothing fit for job interviewing, and aid in searching for jobs.

The stroll will be on Sunday, April 30 anytime between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm at Lake Kenosia Park, Christopher Columbus Avenue, Danbury.
