Danbury celebrates its pets

The Second Annual Danbury Pet Expo 2017 is slated for the middle of October. Organizers promise this will be an educational informative and entertaining event for everyone who loves animals.

Exhibitors will have booths with products and services for pets. They will also be handing out flyers with information, promotional products, and, in a few cases, free samples. Animal experts will be on hand to discuss issues ranging from grooming, to animal training and behavior.

Pet adoptions, free face painting and caricatures and drawings will be available. One example of displays and demos will be the Danbury Police K-9 Unit Demo. Another will be given by the Emergency Animal Response Service.

A pet costume contest will take place during the afternoon; contestants will be arrayed in their finest costumes and winners will be decided by audience applause. First, second, and third place finishes, as well as honorable mention prizes, will go to both dog and cat winners. First place dog prize will be a gift certificate to get professional photos taken of the dog and its family, so owners will be saving some of the prints for future poster printing.

This year’s Danbury Pet Exo will take place from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 15. The event will take place at Candlewood Town Park, 35 Hayestown Road, Danbury.
