Dallas-Fort Worth part of booze delivery service expanded

Deliverer Postmates has expanded its ‘DRINKS’ service to include the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Now, in addition to the many other items Dallas residents can have delivered through Postmates, consumers can use an app to have beer, wine, and spirits brought to them on demand. Major Lone Star State cities were added on June 29 to the company’s DRINKS service.

Postmates operates as a go-between for consumers and local couriers, and delivers groceries and restaurant take-outs to a customer’s front door. Local providers of alcohol may choose to engage a flyer printing service so as to ensure that their customers know they are partnering with Postmates.

The smartphone app lists categories of drinks from which individuals can select. Options include beers (imported or domestic), wines (red, white, or sparkling) and a variety of spirits such as brandy, cognac, gin, rum, vodka, tequila, and whiskey.

The app may help to prevent those who have been drinking from driving to obtain more alcohol, and guidelines are in place to prevent the service from contributing to underage drinking.

Postmates’ guidelines require those downloading the app be at least 21, and the account owner must be on hand to accept delivery and show a valid photo ID. Furthermore, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission limits delivery services to using only existing licensed retailers in filling alcoholic beverages orders.
