Santa returns to Chittenden County this month

The Santa Parade and Lighting Ceremony is taking place in Burlington towards the end of this month.

The parade will travel from City Hall Block to Mall Block and will feature floats, marching bands, singers and, of course, Santa Claus will be bringing up the rear.

After the parade, there will be lots of entertainment, such as carol singers and other seasonal entertainment. In addition, a performance of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’.

The lighting will take place at 6:00 pm when over 250,000 LCD lights will illuminate Church Street. The 50-foot Christmas tree will also be lit up.

For those who want to get healthy before the holiday, the Santa 5K will also be held in Burlington early next month. All participants will be provided with a Santa suit and the first 1,000 will receive an elf hat. Fees are $45 until December 1. There will also be a 1K Fun Run with proceeds going to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, for which the fee is $25. All participants will complete either race will receive a finisher medal. After the race, a free Irish breakfast will be served at Rira Irish Pub.

Some residents visiting from nearby Colchester may decide to take pictures of the lights and use them as their holiday cards.
