Fringe Festival announces lineup

For the 15th year in a row, performance groups, musicians, and artists will converge on Cincinnati for the annual Fringe Festival this month.

Cincinnati’s celebration of the weird and wonderful is based on the original Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which is still going strong in Edinburgh, Scotland, where it is in its 71st year.

The festival runs for 13 days, and during that time, attendees will be able to see over 45 dance, musical, and theatrical productions—a total of more than 250 individual performances, along with screenings of films, visual arts events, and free family-friendly offerings. The performances will be spread over a number of venues in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, and the festival’s headquarters will be at the Know Theatre on Jackson Street.

Among this year’s performers are Erika Kate MacDonald and Paul Strickland, who will stage a “strange-sational” puppet performance entitled ‘ExTrashVaganza!’ Sadie Bowman will present “Curie Me Away!” a play about Marie Curie. Imaginez, a Chicago-based group will appear for the first time with their show ‘Take Flight: An Adventure in Cirque’, a clown show performed in the air. This year, venues with fewer than 60 seats will add additional performances.

A final list of participants will be announced on May 16, and the event runs from May 29 to June 10.

Events like this can be overwhelming, but organizers can help by working with a flyer printing company to create a handout that lists where and when specific performances are taking place.
