Bakery opening second location

Pekara Bakery and Bistro, a popular spot in Champaign, recently announced it is undertaking a major upgrade: it plans to open up a second location, according to an article on the Illinois Home Page website

Pekara, which opened in 2005, was the first bakery in Champaign to sell fresh, homemade bread. The bread soon picked up a following, and the business grew rapidly.

Now, it is so busy its owners have decided to expand into additional premises. The new “Cafe Pekara” will open at the corner of Springfield and Prospect, in a location that the manager promises will be “even bigger and better” than its first location.

In fact, the new facility will be approximately twice as large as the original spot, which is on Neil Street. The manager says with the kitchen offering so much more space, there is almost no limit to what the bakers will be able to do. They intend to focus on bread and sandwiches, but will also be baking other items. Items currently on the menu include sweet crepes, savory crepes, a variety of sandwiches, quiches, and salads. They hope to have the second location open later in the year.

When a business like this opens, management might be able to bring in new customers by working with a flyer printing company to create handouts, including coupons, to distribute at the location, welcoming patrons.
