Shakespeare comes to Chagrin Falls

August 1, 2017 by

Chagrin Falls will soon be the site of one of the most iconic plays in Shakespeare’s entire body of work, and indeed one of the most famous in all theater—Romeo and Juliet.

The timeless tragedy will be performed outdoors, taking advantage of the warm summer nights, and the beauty of Riverside Park.

Shakespeare by the Falls is a collaboration of the Academy for the Performing Arts and the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre. The Academy has won nationwide recognition for its college prep program for students who are interested in the performing arts, while the theater has been operating continuously since 1930, making it one of the oldest in the state.

The production is suitable for all ages. Organizers suggest that families bring blankets or lawn chairs, along with a picnic, and enjoy a meal on the lawn. The cast includes theater students at both the high school and college level, as well as professional actors.

The performances are free of charge, and will take place over the next two weekends – August 4 and 5, and August 11 and 12. Riverside Park is in Chagrin Falls, on East Orange Street. All shows start at 7:00 pm.

Productions like this can benefit if organizers work with a banner printing company, which can create colorful, festive banners to decorate the venue. These are particularly effective in an outdoor setting.
