Chagrin Falls to welcome new bistro

March 1, 2018 by

Aurelia, a restaurant calling itself an “American-style bistro”, will open in Chagrin Falls later this year, according to an article on A bistro is generally thought of as a casual, neighborhood establishment that serves traditional fare rather than fast food. Aurelia will take over the premises most recently home to North Main Diner. Before that, from 1960 until 2008, Dink’s occupied the property.

JB Restaurant Group owns Aurelia; it’s the group’s first restaurant. A JB representative said the bistro’s focus will be on using fresh, local ingredients. Aurelia is also described as offering:

“high quality food” at reasonable prices, “in an upscale, yet casual environment.”

The man in charge of the kitchen will be Chef James Balchak, a Le Cordon Bleu graduate who is classically French-trained. Balchak relocated from Asheville, North Carolina, to work in Chagrin Falls, and says the bistro will source its foods from local suppliers, fisheries, and farms. He aims to keep everything seasonal and fresh, and will change the menu based on what’s available that day, or in season at the time.

Aurelia should be open in late spring or early in the summer of 2018.

When new ventures such as this open, managers might consider distributing promotional products to their first customers. This not only provides them with a memento of the occasion, it also encourages them to discuss the event with others, increasing brand awareness.
