Hazardous waste pickup day planned for Cedar Park

February 16, 2017 by

Cedar Park residents will soon have another opportunity to get rid of some of the hazardous chemicals and appliances from their homes in a responsible way.

Volunteers have been engaged to lend a hand during the event, which is open to individuals and families. Materials such as acids, unwanted paint, brake and transmission fluids, cleaning products, electronics, branches, pool chemicals and more will be accepted, and anyone who will be bringing items for disposal is asked to bring them in the original containers if at all possible.

It should be noted that products such as agricultural pesticides, asbestos, dioxins, medical waste, compressed gasses, radioactive materials (including smoke alarms), and propane cylinders will not be accepted.

Those who plan on participating are reminded that there may be long lineups, and the volunteers who will be helping out will unload the material for them. Walkups will not be permitted, and commercial waste will be accepted. Fridge magnets and other ad specialties can be sent out to local households to remind them about events such as this.

The Cedar Park hazardous waste pickup day has been scheduled for March 25 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm in the Gupton Stadium Parking Lot. Additional details, including a full listing of what products will and will not be accepted, has been made available on the Cedar Park website.
