Cary ballet gala set to stun

March 5, 2017 by

Residents in Cary and the surrounding areas are looking forward to the Cary Ballet’s traditional spring gala.

Titled ‘Spring Mixed Repertoire’ this year, the event promises some of the best in classical and modern dancing in all of South Carolina.

In the past, it has been a tradition for the Cary Ballet and the 3-D project to combine their work into one two-hour showcase. This year, however, marks the first time that the 3-D project gets a separate set of performances, with its latest project ‘Construct’ debuting in the middle of March. That means the whole two-hour gala will be made up of work by the Cary Ballet Company, and this is a running time they are eager to fill.

Most notably, the flyers promise that this spring will feature the premiere of a new short work by award winning choreographer Francisco Gella. It will be presented alongside a series of other modern works, and will serve as the climax of the show. The gala will also have divertissements (short dances) of the famous classical ballet Le Corsaire.

Spring Mixed Repertoire will take place on March 24 at 10:00 am and 7:00 pm, as well as March 25 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Cary Arts Center, located at 101 Dry Ave. Admission is free to the public. Anyone looking for more information should check the flyers or visit the website.
