Weekend of music to groove along to

April 19, 2013 by

To begin a funky weekend, West Sacramento residents can take a trip to see the hit Broadway musical ‘Jersey Boys’ at the SHN Curran Theatre in San Francisco on tomorrow.

This is the story of four kids who leave a blue-collar lifestyle to become one of the greatest musical groups of all time – The Four Seasons.

Portraying singers Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi, Tommy DeVito and Frankie Valli, this group recreates many of the outfit’s hit songs, including ‘Sherry’, and ‘Oh What a Night’. The performance has received rave reviews from Time magazine.

The bus will leave from the Bel Air Parking Lot on Florin Road in Sacramento at 10:45 am tomorrow (April 20) and return at 9:00 pm. There will be time for dinner in San Francisco after the performance. The cost is $99 for the trip for balcony seats or $149 for orchestra or mezzanine seating. Organizers are no doubt taking into consideration that poster printing makes for great and inexpensive souvenirs for fans of musical theatre groups.

More music can be found at ‘Groovin’ in the Grove’ at 11:00 am on Sunday, April 21, hosted at Nelson’s Grove in Woodland.

This fundraiser for the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center and Soroptimist International of Woodland will feature a broad variety of musical entertainment.

The fun begins with cover band Beam taking the stage with music by The Doobie Brothers, CCR, and Peter Frampton. Groovline combines R&B, funk, and Latin tunes at 2:00 pm, followed by Pablo Cruise at 4:00 pm.
