Wild assortment of pre-Christmas Temecula events

A short 10-minute drive will have Temecula residents laughing with comedian Dat Phan at the Aces Comedy Club in Murrieta tomorrow.

Phan is a headlining comedian and the first winner from the NBC series ‘Last Comic Standing’. His show begins at 8:00 pm tomorrow, December 19. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Phan moved to San Diego with his mother where they struggled to survive and he became motivated to pursue his dream of becoming a comedian.

The comedy club is located at 39745 Avenida Acacias, Murrieta.

Locals can also get away to the wild with the African Tram Safari on Friday, December 20 at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, 15500 San Pasqual Valley Road in Escondido. They can enjoy African wildlife from the safety of the tram as it travels through the park, where one can catch sight of rhinoceroses, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles, African birds, and lions.

A less wild but equally lively event is the Encinitas Ballet performing the classic Nutcracker Ballet at 3557 Monroe Street in Carlsbad. Show times are 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Saturday, December 21.

The whole family will enjoy Clara and the Nutcracker, Herr Drosselmeyer, dancing snowflakes, and soldier mice.

As is no doubt being highlighted in professional poster printing, performing in the ballet will be professional dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Russia. Dancing the title roles of the Sugar Plum fairy and the cavalier are French Grand Prix winner and Gold Medalist Elizaveta Shedrina and Russian Dimitrie Antipov.
