Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que opens in Pleasant Hill

The grand opening for Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que in Concord, located just about three miles southwest of Pleasant Hill, was held on Thursday, May 2, and the new restaurants served up service with a smile to a packed house.

Under the direction of Jim Bernachi, the District Manager, Lucille’s is best known for its variety of BBQ dishes and platters. The latter are among the most popular items, as they allow customers to sample a variety of BBQ meats and are large enough to usually provide them with leftovers to take home. According to Bernachi, the chain prides itself upon “low and slow” cooked meats served up with a generous side of Southern hospitality.

When new restaurants hold grand opening ceremonies or offer special promotions, local printing companies might be used to provide banner printing to draw in local customers. Flyer printing or poster printing could also be used by new restaurants in the weeks prior to opening.

Patrons at Lucille’s Grand Opening Ceremony enjoyed an array of delicious barbecued dishes, including brisket, chicken, ribs, and tri-tip marinated in a hickory-wood smoker for 24 hours. After a number of practice runs, the highly trained staff at Lucille’s served up the first dinner to customers. While approximately 2,000 individuals applied for positions at the restaurant, 150 new employees were hired.

The Concord Lucille’s is located in the Sunvalley Shopping Center. This marks the opening of the BBQ chain’s 17th store, and the very first to come to the Bay area. Founded in Long Beach in 1999, Lucille’s has restaurants in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
