Morgan Hill residents discover the night sky

The Open Space Authority has issued an invitation to anyone who would like to join it for Starry Nights, a family-friendly stargazing event.

The Authority has partnered with the San Jose Astronomical Association for this free night-time event. The activity is an opportunity for locals to slow down and appreciate the wonder of the universe.

Guests are asked to dress in layers for warmth and to bring their own drinking water. The groups will provide telescopes free of charge for use during the event. Assistance is available from volunteers who will aid guests with the telescopes.

Sky photography, for personal use or commercial poster printing, is not allowed at the event. Open Space Authority can provide details on future plans for photography-related events.

There is no admission fee to attend the event, but the organizers request that all interested parties register the cars that will be used for the evening. Please arrive at the site before 8:00 PM because gates will close at that time to improve the clarity of the sky for viewing

The Starry Nights event is planned for January 26th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Rancho CaƱada del Oro Open Space Preserve is at 4289 Casa Loma Road in Morgan Hill.

Visit the Eventbrite website to register a vehicle and find out more about the event.
