This year’s Veterans Day ceremony in Palmdale, near Lancaster, will be hosted by the Antelope Valley Service Organization Association (AVSOA). In conjunction with the event, the Mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall for the Antelope Valley (AV Wall) will also be on display.

Master of ceremonies and chairman of AVSOA, Bobby Breech, will give the presentations this year. Scheduled events include the posting of colors, invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, a rifle salute to veterans, and guest speakers.

The wall will be on display beginning at noon on Friday, November 9, 2012 until 8:00 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. While on display, the wall will be available 24 hours a day.

The Palmdale Amphitheater is located at 2723 Rancho Vista Boulevard, Palmdale. The hosts for the AV Wall are the city of Palmdale and Point Man Antelope Valley. Point Man will also be the guardian of the wall while it is on public display.

A grand opening ceremony for the wall will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, November 9, 2012, with a closing ceremony held at 5:00 pm on Monday, November 12, 2012.

The AV Wall is six feet high at the apex and nearly 250 feet long, and contains the names of the 58,000 Vietnam veterans who were either killed or missing in action. Banner printing is often used when the wall is displayed to inform the public of its purpose and sponsors.

The free event will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the Palmdale Amphitheater.
