Wal-Mart Supercenter opens in East Irvine

A new Wal-Mart Supercenter opened late last month in Irvine and is located approximately 10 miles northwest of Lake Forest. Located at 71 Technology Drive, the outlet store opened on Wednesday, November 28 at 7:30 am, just in time for holiday shoppers to take advantage of Grand Opening sales and promotions.

As new stores and retailers open businesses in and around the Lake Forest area, local printing companies may be called upon to provide printing services such as business card printing or stationery printing. Large outlets such as Wal-Mart are also likely to need flyer printing and catalog printing, especially as Christmas draws near and shoppers become anxious to take advantage of special sales and promotions offered during the holiday season.

The new Wal-Mart Supercenter on Technology Drive is not the only Supercenter outlet the discount retailer has planned for the area. A second Wal-Mart Supercenter is currently under construction and is scheduled to open next year at 16555 Von Karman Avenue in Irvine. Sokhee Kang, the mayor for Irvine, stated:

“This is a reflection of a strong local economy that makes companies like Wal-Mart confident moving forward.”

Each of the Wal-Mart Supercenter stores in Irvine will employ approximately 300 individuals. That means Wal-Mart is bringing a total of 600 jobs to the Irvine and Lake Forest area. The Wal-Mart Supercenters sell a complete line of groceries, including deli items, baked goods, produce, dairy, and frozen foods. They also feature an onsite pharmacy and sell general merchandise.
