Dogtown Downtown offers doggone good time

April 2, 2014 by

In just over a week, locals can head out, enjoy the weather with family and friends, and bring along the dog.

At Lafayette’s Dogtown Downtown, there will be workshops, demonstrations, and lectures on everything related to dogs and their care. Canines can compete alongside their human companions in such contests as ‘best team trick’ and ‘looks most like owner’. Dog-to-dog competitions for waggiest tale and best costume will also be held. For those who do not have a four legged best friend, dogs will be available for adoption.

Organizers ask that guests bring only dogs that are well socialized and friendly with both people and fellow canines Additionally, dogs must be kept leashed at all times.

This will be an opportunity for pet-related businesses to pass out literature detailing their products and services. A local print company can make up a brochure or set of digital business cards to enhance this advertising opportunity.

The first 250 registering will be gifted with a canine First Aid Starter Kit (one per family). Kits can be picked up the day of the event.

The event is scheduled for April 12, a Saturday. It is free, open to the public, and promises to be fun for all ages.
It starts at 10:00 am with a dog parade originating at Lafayette Plaza and continues at the Amphitheater through 1:00 pm with activities, contests, and demonstrations.
