Many Nutcracker ballets to choose from this holiday season

There are several production companies putting on the ever popular ballet ‘The Nutcracker’ this holiday season. Everyone loves the holiday tale of the Sugar Plum Fairy who brings to life Clara’s nutcracker prince and sends her on a magical journey through lands filled with fairies, music, and holiday treats. No doubt poster printing is well underway to promote the shows.

The Festival Ballet Theatre will present the ballet from December 14 – 24 at the Barclay Theater, 4242 Campus Drive, Irvine. The production features the dancing talents of Irina Dvorovenko & Maxim Beloserkovsky from the American Ballet Theatre in performances from December 14 – 16; Carla Korbes, of the Pacific Northwest Ballet and Fabrice Calmels from the Joffrey Ballet in performances December 19 – 22; and Sascha Radetsky and Stella Abrera from the American Ballet Theatre in performances December 22 – 24. Tickets are $35 for children, $37 for seniors, and $40 for adults. Attendees can buy four or more adult tickets for $30 each.

The Maple Youth Ballet will also present ‘The Nutcracker’ at the Northwood Performing Arts Theatre, 4515 Portola Parkway, Irvine, on December 22 and 23. For tickets and information, call (949) 660-9930.

After Christmas, residents cam come out to the Orange County Great Park and enjoy a rocking New Year’s Eve party. With live entertainment, dancing, and food, while the old year ends and the New Year rolls in, this will be an alcohol free event for the whole family to enjoy.
