Innovation and fundraising tips for business owners

With additional funds often being needed in order to expand a business, a workshop coming up next week will help businesses learn how to obtain them.

Instructors will help business owners analyze and identify what their business needs and the whether they should fundraise through family and friends or go straight to large institutions to obtain funds.

Instructors include David Ochi, the chief executive officer for Alpha Sprouts LLC. He has more than 20 years’ experience in company startups, beginning with tutoring at the young age of 13.

The workshop begins at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, September 12. Registration is $35 in advance and $45 on the day of the event.

Later on the same day, business owners may want to attend a meeting on ‘How Winners Win’ at 6:00 p.m. in the multipurpose academic and administrative building located at 4302 Pereira Drive in Irvine. Both events are only a 20-minute drive from Huntington Beach.

This is the final session of workshops for the 2013 Business Innovation series and will focus on innovation within existing business models. Profile forms will be available to participants so specific issues can be addressed during the session.

The instructor for this course is Shervin Talieh and his team. They will focus on what they call disruptive innovative business models. For more information call Collene Houston at (714) 305-3031.

Needless to say, any business event is an opportunity to build contacts and carry out networking, so well-prepared attendees will no doubt be carrying traditional or digital business cards.
