July 10, 2013 by

Children ages 9 – 13 who are interested in photography can attend Samy’s Photo Camp this week at Samy’s Camera Education, 475 South Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles, 30 minutes from Gardena.

The camp began as an afterschool scheme in 2009 after arts programs began to be cut in schools. It has since taught more than 600 students at nine different schools and youth centers in Los Angeles.

This is the first summer camp of the program, and the admission price of $195 includes a camp T-shirt and a digital point and shoot camera with memory card.

Students will master techniques in fashion, sports, food, and photojournalism photography and will cover the concepts of perspective, composition, framing, macro, and self-timer.

All equipment will be provided. The last session will include a special graduation ceremony for family and friends to attend at which they can take photos of the graduates.

The camp will be led by commercial art photographer and instructor Deborah Cloyed, who has over 10 years of photographer experience, and will be held this Saturday, July 13.

Before that, artists and print company employees who are interested in the Autodesk Flame Premium program can attend a workshop at 9:30 am tomorrow, Thursday, July 11, at the Autodesk Venice Office, 210 Main Street in Los Angeles.

This training will teach artists who use Flame or Smoke a more comprehensive understanding of the color management tools and how to integrate color grading into their projects. Participants need not have any prior knowledge.
