Blacksmithing course planned for Escondido

August 20, 2017 by

An event has been planned for Escondido that will help to keep farriering from becoming a lost art.

The Bandy Blacksmith Shop will be hosting a 10-week long course that will give those who take part a solid foundation in blacksmithing. The participants will learn how to make their own tools, and also to meet with others who share their interest. Further classes are available for those who would like to gain a more in-depth knowledge of the art through instruction in such areas as working with an open forge, and the students will also receive a one-year membership in the Bandy Blacksmith Guild.

The organizers plan for the classes to be fun as well as informative, and there will also be time for the students to mingle with others who share their interest.

The classes are open especially to those age 18 and over. Anyone between 14 and 17 can still attend, but they will need to be accompanied by their parent or guardian. Manuals and other printed materials for a course such as this can be supplied by a local printing services company.

The blacksmithing workshop will begin on September 23, and it will be held in Escondido’s Bandy Blacksmith Shop. The registration fee is $350, and more details can be found on the website for the shop.
