Plant fair offers water efficient plant ideas for landscaping

For any green-fingered gardeners who cannot decide what to plant, the San Diego County Garden Friendly Plant Fair may have the answer.

They are invited to the Encinitas Home Depot from 8:00 am – 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 29, to find a variety of garden-friendly water efficient plants for gardens and landscaping. The onset of autumn brings cooler weather and shorter days and is the best time to update gardens.

San Diego County residents will enjoy plenty of vendor booths and children’s activities at the fair. Selected varieties of plants will be available at up to 50% off, including euryops, rosemary, lavender, succulents, kangaroo paw, dodonea, Gulf Stream nandina, and society garlic, all available at discounted prices only during the fair while supplies last.

Industry experts will be on hand to offer advice and information on selecting plants and irrigation ideas. Home Depot nursery consultants will host how-to workshops and information on water conservation programs will be offered by local water agencies.

The plant fair is sponsored by Olivenhain Municipal Water District, San Dieguito Water District, Home Depot and the city of Carlsbad Municipal Water District. Four more plant fairs will be offered for San Diego residents at Home Depots located in Chula Vista, San Marcos, city of San Diego, and Escondido.

The Encinitas Home Depot is located at 1001 El Camino Real, Encinitas. Catalog printing of water efficient plants is an excellent resource for city residents interested in xeriscaping their yards in order to save water, and it would be no surprise to see catalogs at the fair.
