Petty Charity Ride schedule and route posted

March 11, 2014 by

The route for the 2014 Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America has just been released.

The cross-county motorcycle run will take off from Carlsbad in a couple of months and travel from there to Tucson, Arizona. The last leg of the 2,800 mile course that runs from the Pacific ocean to the Atlantic will see riders traveling from Tallahassee, Florida to Daytona Beach, Florida on May 10.

The ride, now in its 20th year, raises money to support Victory Junction Camp. Created in memory of Adam Petty, Kyle’s late son, the camp gives children suffering from life-threatening or chronic illnesses the opportunity to enjoy a summer camp experience. More than 7,730 children have been hosted at the camp since 2004, without their families having to pay anything.

According to Kyle, the event began as a few friends getting together for a good time riding their motorcycles from track to track. Among riders this year will be several present and former NASCAR drivers, including Kyle’s seven-time Sprint Cup winning father, Richard Petty. Other riders of note will be former football player Herschel Walker and Col. Allen West.

Businesses in cities that start or end a leg of the ride will no doubt want to tie into this event as much as possible. Putting in a flyer or banner printing order in time for the May 3 ride can help to accomplish this.
