Class will teach how to get into gaming

Next week will see a couple of evening sessions that will no doubt be of interest to fans of two particular forms of entertainment.

Firstly, an informative meeting called ‘Intro to the LA Gaming Community’ will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday, June 10, at the ROC in Santa Monica, right next door to Brentwood.

The class will be held by Shirin Salemnia, who is the chief executive officer of Play Werks, a media company that creates multiplatform games for children and adults. She formerly worked at Mattel and MGA Entertainment and is experienced in research and analysis of consumer motivations, industry trends, and competitor activity.

Admission is free and the ROC is located at 604 Arizona Avenue, Santa Monica.

Shortly after, Lakers fans will welcome the opportunity to attend the ‘Evening with Phil Jackson’ on Wednesday, June 12 at 8:00 pm at the Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Boulevard, Glendale.

Jackson will be discussing his memoir ‘Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success’ with John Salley, which has no doubt kept book printing companies busy. Fans will remember him as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls, winning 11 championship titles. Along the way, he inspired such players as Kobe Bryant, Dennis Rodman, and Michael Jordan, as well as countless fans.

Known for his quest for knowledge that led to an exploration of all kinds of philosophies, admission to Jackson’s evening. Admission is $22 and the book will be available for purchase for $55.
