A Disney performance in the area is coming to an end this weekend, but there is still plenty to look forward to throughout the month ahead.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ will have its last showing at the Pantages Theatre at 6:00 pm this Sunday, April 7. Over 35 million people have seen this smash Broadway musical nationwide. Following the young Belle as she seeks to save her father from the Beast, it includes a number of songs that everybody should recognize.

Admission to this family favorite starts at $25, although children under the age of three will not be admitted to the theatre. A limited number of booster seats are available for young children. The Pantages Theatre is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles only 30 minutes from Brea.

Those who are too late to catch that can still have fun at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, returning to Irwindale’s Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area from April 6 – May 19. Hundreds of performers dress the part in Elizabethan attire and language, while vendors will over hand-crafted items like pottery, clothing, hand blown glass items, and weaponry.

Events to see include jousting, live musicians, knive throwers, and improv troupes on 14 stages. Food vendors will offer more than 100 varieties of food and drinks.

This is the 51st year for this festival, which had its start in Agoura back in 1963. Hand-printed flyers were the way to advertise back in Elizabethan days. Thankfully, there are now print companies who offer flyer printing services to make the job easier.

The recreation area is located at 15501 E. Arrow Highway, Irwindale. For more information, call (626) 969-4750. Admission is $13 – $25. The faire is only open on weekends from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm.
