Two local restaurants to re-open

Mezzo and Raleigh’s Bar and Grill are slated to re-open soon on Telegraph Avenue.

Both restaurants have been closed since 2011 when a fire destroyed the building they were residing in. Due to several obstacles, the buildings reconstruction was delayed until 2014. Both restaurants are set to open in June if all goes according to plan.

Mezzo, which was previously known as Café Intermezzo, will share a space next to Raleigh’s. The restaurants will be connected and are in a larger space than their original footprint. Although connected the restaurants will have separate spaces for ordering and dining. They will share restrooms and a courtyard in the back.

Mezzo’s will have many of its original menu items including their well-known salads and sandwiches. The restaurant serves homemade dressings as well. They will also offer a few new menu items including a coffee service. It is likely print companies are busy printing the final menus for both restaurants.

Raleigh’s menu has changed a bit and will serve food items that will go well with the beers they serve. New pizza ovens will be used to make a thin crust pizza. The bar will serve beers from many local breweries.

The outdoor courtyard will be a welcoming space with a bar, fire pit, bocce court and a sitting area for about 200 people.

Several items were salvaged from the original restaurants including some of the tables and chairs. Also returning is the garden gnome and bricks from the old building that are re-used to create steps to connect the two areas outdoors.
