Bellingham heads to Northwest Raspberry Festival

July 5, 2017 by

July is the area’s raspberry-picking month and our county’s Northwest Raspberry Festival will be in full swing in a couple of weeks. The two-day festival will feature live music.

The Curt Maberry Memorial Classic three-on-three basketball tournament will begin with the Rookie Razz – a game for kids in grades kindergarten through 2nd grade. Games for netters in 3rd grade up to and including adult teams will round out the two-day activity.

For the classic car enthusiasts, there will be the Razz 7 Shine Cruise-in. A drawing will take place at 3:15 pm for numerous prizes.

The Lynden Community Center will be holding its annual Raspberry Pancake Breakfast. The $5 fee will go to benefit the center.

Kids 12 years and younger can go on the Fill the Raspberry! Sticker Scavenger Hunt. The object of the hunt is to find certain Lynden downtown stores, obtain a sticker, fill all the spaces on a raspberry card, and submit the card for a chance to win a new bicycle. Parents of the winner will want to take pictures of the winning bike and its owner for later poster printing.

Little Bellingham youngsters can enjoy the rides and other activities in the Little Pickers Kid’s Zone. Ice cream with raspberries will be available.

The event will run all day from July 14 through 15 in downtown Lynden.
