Bellerose goes Italian

At the end of the month, Cellini Lodge #2206-OSIA (Order Sons of Italy in America) will be hosting its annual Italian Fest. It will be four days of food, games, rides, crafts, vendors, musical entertainment, and fireworks.

The International Food Court will have Pastries, Famous Stuffed Cellini’s, and Zeppoles. Musical entertainment will be provided by Tempo on Wednesday, Rewind on Thursday, and Risky Business on Friday. Saturday’s line up will begin with Castetti Nation in the afternoon and continue with Don Felice in the evening. DJ Chris and the Bel-Airs will perform on Sunday.

The last afternoon of the event will be Community Appreciation Day. Children under the age of eight will get free admissions and half price pasta. Fireworks will be the highlight of Saturday’s activities.

Attendees from here in Bellerose, especially those of Italian decent, may want to gather family and friends and go to this event. Photos taken of them will make good subjects for later poster printing.

The fun is scheduled for August 24 through August 28 at Michael J. Tully Park/Denton/Evergreen, New Hyde Park, which is south of Hillside Avenue and north of Jericho Turnpike. Hours for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Saturday hours will be 3:00 pm until 11:00 pm, and Sunday the event will be open from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Fireworks will be on the Saturday, or Sunday if it rains.
