Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce announces award winners

The Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce recently announced their 2017 Beautiful Bakersfield Award winners. The annual event honors those who dedicate their time and resources to build a better community. The award winners include individuals, organizations and businesses.

Dozens of nominees were on hand for the gala held at the Double Tree by Hilton. The event was also live streamed for those unable to attend that were waiting to see if their nominees were chosen. Winners were chosen from 16 categories including the Chairman’s Award which is awarded as an overall recognition of excellence.

The winner of the award this year was The Wildlands Conservancy, Wind Wolves Preserve. Organizations such as these could use awards as an opportunity to obtain promotional products displaying the honor. The conservancy provides educational program based on nature among various other events and missions.

Among individuals chosen for awards was Kathy Vochoska who was presented the Humanitarian award; Taylor Germanetti was chosen as the winner for the Young adult award for her work in developing a curriculum to teach elementary students about dairy and beef industries; Glenn Bland, owner of Bland Solar & Air was presented the Business Person of the Year award.

Another category where nominations were submitted was for the “Life As It Should Be” award which is given to a project or event held in the city that contributes to the quality of life. This year the award was presented to the Bakersfield Marathon which had almost 2,000 participants.
