Springfield couple celebrates 60th anniversary

February 23, 2018 by

While many were spending Valentine’s Day exchanging cards emblazoned with romantic graphic design and artwork, a couple from Springfield, Massachusetts celebrated their 60th anniversary.

The couple, Nancy and Jack Holowitz, met in 1958 at a bowling alley in Vermont. After a couple of months of dating, Jack received news that he was going to have to fly over to Germany for the Air Force. It was at that moment that they decided to get married and spend their honeymoon traveling across Europe. They then came back to Pittsburgh and had their first child, traveled to Vermont, and finally settled down in Springfield where they have remained since.

About their relationship, Nancy says:

“I was with some friends at a bowling alley in Vermont when I met Jack and I just fell in love with him that night. I told my friends, I’m gonna marry that guy… My parents drove me to New York and I got on the SS United States to be with Jack. I wasn’t going to leave him alone with all those frauleins.”

Nancy and Jack now own their own photography business that they have been running for the past 40 years and have three children: Kimberly, Sandy, and Tony, who now also have their own flourishing families.

For more information about their photography business, visit the Holowitz website.
