Outdoor Africana festival comes to Virginia Beach this August

Africana Virginia Beach is taking place in the city for three days this August, and now includes the popular Funkfest.

The festival is a combination of entertainment, culture, food, business seminars, and luncheons, a health and wellness expo and a natural hair and beauty exposition. Several bands such as Midnight Star, Cameo, and the MVP Band will be performing.

Several seminars of interest to entrepreneurs will take place during the three-day festival. Two of the seminars have the topics ‘The Entrepreneurs Roundtable’ and ‘Francising and You’. There will also be a woman’s leadership luncheon, several after-parties, and a Sunday buffet. ‘It’s All About Me’, the health and beauty exposition, will feature hors d’oeuvres and drinks for guests.

Organizers have likely advertised this event widely throughout Virginia Beach. This probably means they invested in such services as poster and flyer printing from local printing companies.

Africana Virginia Beach will take place in and around 24th Street Park from August 23 – 25. Admission is free for the concerts and most of the activities, although the two aforementioned seminars will take place at the Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel with tickets priced at $25 each. The Women’s Leadership Luncheon will take place on August 24 and will feature guest speaker Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie. Tickets to attend this are $60.

Tickets to concert after-parties are $20 and tickets for the Sunday buffet are $15. For more information about any of the activities, please call 757-491-7866.
