Learn from professional women at the Chamber

The next seminar in the Professional Women’s Leadership Luncheon Series of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce will be held at the Holiday Inn Virginia Beach-Norfolk Hotel and Conference Center on June 27 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Tickets are $30 and the event is open to both men and women.

The speaker on June 27 will be Teresa A. Sullivan, president of the University of Virginia, who will be sharing her secrets and strategies on how to be an effective leader. Women often feel that they are not taken as seriously as leaders, so this quarterly luncheon series strives to educate women and others in business on just what it takes to be successful whether you are male or female. It is definitely a must-attend event for any woman who wants to be a competent and successful business leader.

There will be a chance for some networking prior to lunch where Virginia Beach business peers can develop new relationships. Those who plan to attend should arrange for new business card printing services so that they will have enough cards to hand out to everyone they meet. In addition to business cards, it would be a good idea for those in attendance to have practised their “elevator speech” in advance. Thisis a 30-60 second description of your business and what it has to offer to others and it can be delivered while handing somebody a business card. This is especially effective when you only have about one minute to spend with each person.
