AAUW to host open house

August 16, 2012 by

The Vienna branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will be holding at open house at the Patrick Henry Library on September 8 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. This is a free event.

Those who attend the open house will be served refreshments and will be able to learn about the various programs and activities offered by the organization. Among them are several fellowships and grants, lecture series, and a career center.

The AAUW has over 100,000 members throughout the United States with over 1,000 branches. The organization is open to any woman who have at least an undergraduate degree or is working towards one in current university students. National membership fees are $49 per year for those who already have graduated, $980 for a lifetime membership, and $18.81 per year for current students. Branch memberships also come with an extra membership fee. The goal of the organization is to advance the equality of women in higher education and the AAUW has been named one of the top non-profit organizations for 2012 by Great Nonprofits.

Belonging to such an organization could be an excellent networking opportunity for female university graduates and those in business for themselves. No doubt among their activities will be various networking events at local branches. With that in mind, women who plan to join the organization should first arrange with Vienna printing companies for business card printing services. There are bound to be several opportunities in which members will be able to exchange business cards.
