Chicks with Bricks to build its fundraising coffers

April 19, 2013 by

The Chicks with Bricks fundraiser is taking place in Richmond in early May and is planned to coincide with National Women Build Week, which asks women to make a difference in housing throughout the world.

Since 1998, volunteers for the organization have built over 1,600 houses all over the world. Proceeds from the evening will go to Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity.

Guests will be treated to beer and wine tastings, hors d’oeuvres, and music provided by a DJ. It will give people the opportunity to sample some local beverages and to find out about Women Build. It will also be a good networking opportunity for local businesses who are thinking of investing time and money in the organization and in fulfilling its goals.

Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity provides houses for people who are often in difficult situations. Those who do receive the houses must pay off the mortgage and are expected to donate 200 hours of time to work on that house or another Habitat house. Recently, seven foreclosed homes in the area were donated to Habitat and are being refurbished for worthy families.

Organizers are probably availing themselves of the services of Richmond printing companies to help advertise the event. Flyers will very likely be distributed in the community through direct mail or as newspaper inserts.

The Chicks with Bricks event will take place at the Legend Brewing Company on May 1. Tickets are $20 each. More information can be obtained by calling 804-232-7001.
