Music month ahead in Norfolk

March 14, 2014 by

Performances of ‘Opus’, a main stage musical written by Michael Hollinger and a region premiere event, begin this evening in Norfolk.

This is the story about a quartet in which passions collide and chaos erupts with a member being fired right before a performance. A comic and poignant play, its promoters may have used poster printing and flyer printing to tell people about it in this area.

The story is about the Lazara Quartet, which performs its own renditions of many classical masterpieces, yet below the surface there is enough drama to cause passions in this group to erupt. It offers an amusing account of the group’s hunt to replace a member of the quartet who was dismissed just before a performance at the White House. It is witty, tart, and includes political and passionate undertones that audience will enjoy as the story unfolds.

Tickets cost $18 per adult, $15 per student, senior, or military member, and $13 per group of 10 people or more. Opus will be on stage from tonight, March 14, to Sunday, April 6. Performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays begin at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:30 pm at the Generic Theater located at 215 St. Paul’s Blvd. in Norfolk, Virginia.
