Spring festival celebrates Arbor Day in Fairfax County

March 19, 2014 by

The 2014 Springfest Fairfax is being held this April in Lorton. It is hosted by such local organizations as the Clean Fairfax Council, the County of Fairfax and the Workhouse Arts Center, among others.

There will be plenty of activities for visitors to take part in during the day. Children’s activities will include pony rides, a bounce house, a petting zoo, and face painting. There is also set to be a climbing wall and a food court. Exhibits by Billy B and Reptiles Alive are planned, and guests can pick up an environmental passport and have it stamped at every booth they visit.

Lorton Community Action is also holding a toothbrush, toothpaste, cereal, and rice drive; those who bring an item will receive a free reusable tote bag.

In addition, the festival will feature workshops, vendors and non-profit community organizations that will be providing information about their programs. Among the non-profit groups expected to attend are Tree City USA and the Friends of Trees Awards.

No doubt people will want to attend this event from all over Fairfax County, including nearby McLean. Local stationery printers are often asked to provide items such as flyers or booklets to help inform the public about such upcoming events.

The Springfest Fairfax is taking place on April 26 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Workhouse Arts Center. Admission is free. Contact Jennifer Cole at 703-324-5471 for more information.
