Fundraising evening to give children a good start in life

October 27, 2012 by

The Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center awards benefit will take place at the Westwood Country Club in Vienna in less than two weeks’ time. Tickets are $110 for Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce members or $125 for non-members and proceeds will go to support the programs of the Children’s Center.

The theme of the awards benefit is ‘Building Blocks: Giving Children a Strong Foundation’ and it will be honoring the retiring executive director of the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, Elizabeth Page. It will also be recognizing other individuals and organizations in the community that have dedicated their lives and careers to helping children. The event will also launch the Elizabeth Page Scholarship Fund for At-Risk Children.

The awards benefit will also feature a cocktail reception, a silent auction, dinner, a block-building game to raise funds for the scholarship fund, and the awards presentations. It should be an enjoyable evening for all and will raise much-needed funds for a very worthwhile organization.

Members and non-members of the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce will no doubt be arranging for business card printing services in advance of the awards benefit. While this is an event to raise funds for the Children’s Center, it will also allow for some networking amongst those in attendance. Those who are dedicated to helping children are likely to meet some like-minded individuals with whom they might wish to work in the future.

The date to remember is November 8 and the awards will be handed out from 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm. For more information, call 703-356-5424.
