The executive director for LearningRx in Reston and Vienna, Virginia, Maureen Loftus, recently hosted the 25th Annual Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce Stars, an event that celebrates the achievement and improvement of students throughout Fairfax County.

The event, which included 54 students and 190 of their supporters, Maureen Loftus, and the superintendent of schools in Fairfax County, Dr. Scott Brabrand, celebrated the achievement of students who have been struggling with personal issues or learning obstacles that had previously prevented them from moving forward in school.

Some of the schools that participated, for which the full list can be found online at the LearningRx website, included BASIS Independent in McLean, Virginia; Freedom Hill Elementary School; and Mountain View High School.

In recognition of their hard work and dedication, the students who were honored at the event were given the opportunity to choose two books before the ceremony began – one they would add to their library and one they would keep for themselves. In addition to the books they received, all students received an individual award and were given breakfast at Earls Kitchen and Bar.

Loftus said:

“We’re so thrilled with the continued participation and exceptional students that make the Tysons Chamber Stars Event a success.”
