Discover social networking

The Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce, which presents a regular Non-profit Education Series, will be holding its next event on “Social networking.” It will take place at the Microsoft Store in Tyson’s Corner on July 19 from 7:30 am – 9:00 am. This is a free event but those who plan to attend must reserve in advance.

When many people think about social networking, they think of people logging onto sites such as Facebook to keep track of what their friends are up to. However, business professionals are finding that these sites are great for forging relationships with their business peers. LinkedIn is often described as being Facebook for business people. Many people find employment through LinkedIn. They use it to find like-minded people through the many groups available and consider it a great place to post their resume.

Social networking sites also allow businesspeople to network at any time of the night or day. McLean business experts who attend this event might also learn how they can use digital business cards on social networking sites. Digital business cards are basically a file listing the same sort of contact information as regular cards. As with meeting people at regular in-person networking events, those who connect should make arrangements to follow up. In this case, they should meet in person on the first occasion.

Chambers of commerce are great places to learn about the latest trends in business and this event will help those who have yet to make the transition to the online community.
