Learn how to start your own business

The Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Henrico Department Economic Authority are presenting the workshop “Starting a Business 101“ on July 7 from 11:30 am – 1:30 am. Tickets are $20 and snacks are included.

Starting a business can be a very hard and frustrating but, thankfully, there are always people who have been through it in the past who are willing to help those embarking on that journey with advice on how to negotiate the roadblocks that are often thrown up.

Those who attend the two-hour workshop will be taught startup tasks that must be carried out, such as which permits are needed and which government departments must be dealt with. They will also be given step-by-step instructions on how to formulate and write a business plan, as well as learning how to decide if their small business has any possibility of being successful by using a feasibility study.

The workshop will be a great networking opportunity for those who are starting their own business or considering doing so. Even though they have not yet created their business, attendees from the area, including nearby Glen Allen, should make sure they undertake some business card printing beforehand, so that they can make themselves known to fellow participators. The business card should include their name, contact information such as mailing address, telephone numbers, and website and/or social media addresses. If they already have a name and logo in mind for their business, these should also be added to the cards. The more professional they look, the better.
