The 2nd annual Virginia Health Care Conference will take place at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on June 7 from 9 am – 4 pm. The conference is a presentation of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, with tickets available for $125 or $45 for lunch only. Students can gain admission for $50.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Transforming health care through innovation.” It will feature professional speakers such as Dr. Paul Grundy, William A Hazel, Andrew C. Webber, and Dr. Samuel Nussbaum. There will also be panel discussions such as “Healthy workforce = healthy economy” and “Virginia health care innovators: best practices.”

The 2012 Virginia Healthcare Innovators Awards will be handed out at the luncheon. There are four categories of awards: Patient care, Medical product or device, Health information technology and Employee health. Winners of the awards are sure to be those who have come up with innovative ideas to improve the quality of healthcare in the Commonwealth of Virginia. With a rapidly aging population, health care is becoming a bigger and bigger industry and it’s important to find ways to improve that quality. The examples of the winners will probably motivate others to find innovative ways to save money and improve services.

The event will also be a chance for those involved in related health industries in the area, including those from nearby Glen Allen, to network with one another. There will be several chances to exchange business cards during the conference, so arranging for extra business card printing will make sure those attending have enough cards to hand out to everyone they meet.
