Popular Arlington fair returns this August

July 30, 2013 by

The Arlington County Fair is taking place for five days next month, and is a popular event that attracts at least 50,000 visitors each year.

There will be lots of activities to enjoy at the Fair, including midway rides and games, bingo, pickleball, pony rides, racing piglets, and musical entertainment. There will also be a 5K run/walk, a Kids’ Court, food concessions, vendors, and exhibits. In addition, there will be a variety of competitive events.

This year, the theme of those exhibits is ‘Explore Arlington’. There will be competitions for baked goods, food preservation, fine arts, photography, and beeswax. The winners will receive ribbons in four divisions.

The Kids’ Court will feature activities such as basketball, face painting, and a scavenger hunt. Entertainment will be provided by such performers as Hexagon, Kelley Kennedy, Ballet Nova, and the Country Steppers. Vendors will feature local artists and crafters, local commercial businesses, and non-profit civic or community organizations – all of which should offer an opportunity for them to make themselves known to the general public throughout the area.

It is likely that Arlington printing companies have helped to design and print the fair program booklet that will be available to everyone. This will help make sure people do not miss too many events.

The fair will be held at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center from August 7 – 11. Admission is free. Midway ride tickets are $1 each, 24 for $20, or 48 for $40. For more information, visit the official Fair website.
