Learn how to use LinkedIn professionally

The first seminar in the Arlington Chamber of Commerce’s social media series will take place on March 21 from 7:45-9 pm. Admission is free for Chamber members and $25 for non-members. While breakfast will not be served, attendees are welcome to bring their own.

The first seminar, entitled “What exactly am I Linked In to? Building professional relationships through LinkedIn” will be presented by Lauren Buchman, a social media “guru.” The seminar will be held in a round table format with a presentation from Ms. Buchman and a question and answer session. LinkedIn has become an important business tool and this seminar will give those who attend “a working knowledge of the LinkedIn platform.”

LinkedIn, along with other social media sites, is quickly becoming a necessary tool in business. Most people join LinkedIn to help increase their business, to find a new job and to find new employees; it is like the grown up sibling of Facebook. However, it can be daunting at first and this seminar series should lessen all of your fears about the platform. It will also open your eyes to all the possibilities of LinkedIn, beyond the obvious.

The social media series will also give you plenty of networking opportunities with your fellow arlington business peers. There will be time to get to know one another during the seminar so make sure to bring a business card. Printing extras might be a good idea so you will have enough to give to everyone you meet.
